Biography

Judy E. Kim, MD is a graduate of the University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, and Howard Hughes Medical Institute-National Institutes of Health Research Scholars Program. She completed her ophthalmology residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, often considered one of the best ophthalmology residency training programs in the country.  She completed additional 2 years of specialized training in vitreoretinal fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin and is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. Currently she is Professor of Ophthalmology at the Medical College of Wisconsin and her practice emphasis is on expert management of surgical and medical retinal diseases, such as diabetic retinopathy, age-related macular degeneration, retinal vein occlusions, retinal detachments, macular holes, epiretinal membranes and macular puckers.

 

Dr. Kim has received numerous awards and honors. She has been repeatedly selected by her peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America." And “Best Doctors in Milwaukee”. Her awards include Achievement Award and Senior Achievement Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Honor Award from the American Society of Retinal Specialists. She has been elected to the Retina Society as well as the Macula Society, which are distinguished professional societies of retinal surgeons. She has been elected to many regional and national leadership and committee positions and serves on the review boards of a number of peer-reviewed journals. Dr. Kim has published extensively and is an active lecturer and presenter nationally and internationally. She is actively involved with Diabetic Retinopathy Clinical Research Network, funded by the National Eye Institute, and has served as a Principal Investigator in a number of multicenter clinical trials related to vitreoretinal diseases and surgery.
