Dr. Steven B. Koenig joined the faculty of the Eye Institute in 1983 following completion of specialized training in cornea and refractive surgery. He was promoted to Full Professor in 1988. His practice is limited to cataract, corneal and refractive surgery (LASIK) with a strong emphasis on laser vision correction; mso-fareast-font-family: corneal transplantation, no-stitch corneal transplantation (DLEK), and no-stitch cataract surgery. He is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, has received the Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and was elected to the Castroveijo Society, a distinguished professional society of corneal surgeons.
Dr. Koenig has participated in the training of a number of ophthalmologists and corneal surgeons and has been repeatedly selected by his peers as one of the "Best Doctors in America." Dr. Koenig recently stated, "As an ophthalmologist, I am frequently consulted by other doctors about the need for surgical correction of various eye diseases. In advising patients, I draw upon 20 years of clinical experience, fellowship training in corneal surgery, and a conservative medical philosophy. After listening to a patient's complaint and performing a thorough examination, I will typically offer patients a stepladder approach, outline therapeutic options, and let them participate in their own care.”
